Quickie: Starbucks' Iced Maple Pecan Latte with Cold Foam

By this point, you’ve probably already had the season’s obligatory Pumpkin Spice Latte (maybe even multiple times, if you’re like me). But, Starbucks has a new offering this fall: The Iced Maple Pecan Latte with Cold Foam. Honestly, this drink is a nice break from the PSL. The Maple Pecan Latte (the MPL?) is not too sweet, not too bitter. The flavor overall is very subtle, with just a hint of sweetness from the maple and a little waft of buttery, nuttiness from the pecan.

 

 

I wanted this drink to be a little more maple-forward, though. If you’re going to call a drink “Maple Pecan,” then give it to me. And while I'm critiquing, I also think this drink doesn’t benefit from the cold foam at all. It would probably be just as good, if not better, without the cold foam. It doesn’t ruin the drink per se, it just doesn’t really add anything to it. Overall, though, I don’t think it’s a bad drink. It’s especially good if you aren’t into the PSL, but still want in on the autumnal action at Starbucks. But altogether, you don’t really need this drink in your life.
